selecting your buttercream

American buttercream is whipped butter with icing sugar and flavouring; it is quite sweet and most likely will remind you of a classier version of what you grew up with.

Italian buttercream is meringue based with butter added. This buttercream is rich and indulgent with a subtle sweetness. 

A basic yellow cake, which is moist and dense, is flavoured with your choice from a selection of flavours in stock (lemon, vanilla, chocolate, etc.), which is filled and covered with a complimentary flavour of American or Italian buttercream. 

White cake, which is lighter in crumb and colour, can be selected for additional cost.

Please ask about additional fillings, such as compote or candy, as these may be possible.

Select cakes come in 4-inch, 6-inch, and 8-inch rounds and can be up to 3 tiers.

Please note: Tasting boxes and consultations are not offered for Select Style Cakes.

JL Cake & Chocolate has two separate kitchens available; one that bakes only with gluten-free ingredients, and the other without any restricted ingredients.  So, some restrictive diets may be accommodated. 

As both are not public health inspected, no specific health claims or labels will apply.
